Cadwell BSB: A 'difficult' weekend for Byrne

Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki’s Shane Byrne had a ‘frustrating’ MCE British Superbike weekend at Cadwell Park. Technical problems in race two meant he missed out on a podium. But the reigning champ did get a second place finish in race one to take his podium credit tally to 23.

In race two Byrne was up at the sharp end with Tyco Suzuki’s Josh Brookes, Samsung Honda’s Alex Lowes and Milwaukee Yamaha’s James Ellison, but any hopes of clinching his tenth win of the season were shattered when a technical problem meant he could finish no higher than fourth.

“It was a difficult weekend we chipped away and chipped away and felt that we made some changes for race two which we felt we should win the race on,” said Byrne, speaking to bikesportnews.com from the circuit.

“But it is unfortunate from the first lap that it was obviously never going to happen, and from there on in it was an 18 lap slogger. I am really, really frustrated it is nothing that the team done wrong and they didn’t make a mistake it has just been a hard weekend.”
