RAF Reserves Kawasaki’s Jake Dixon had a mixed MCE British Superbike weekend at Cadwell Park. He made it onto the podium with a second place finish in the opening race, but then suffered a crash whilst leading in the final event.

The young-gun fell unhurt at Hall Bend after tucking the front of his ZX-10RR, as he was trying to out-pace Smiths BMW’s Lee Jackson and Be Wiser Ducati’s Shane Byrne. But he did come away from the eighth round in the series with some valuable podium points and now has a total of 17.

Even with the DNF in race two, Dixon has still closed the gap to the top six, and is only five points adrift of a spot in the showdown, as he is currently seventh in the overall championship standings. Now the Dover rider is focusing on the triple-header at Silverstone and there his aim is to secure his place in the coveted showdown.

“I was pushing the pace at the front and I was doing mid 26s and I thought I could have a bit more in reserve and I thought to keep trying to push on and push on and I started to see the gap started to grow a bit and unfortunately went down into Hall Bends,” said Dixon, speaking to bikesportnews.com.

“The team have been working mega all weekend we have closed the gap even though we have had a crash to the top 6, so we have three races to get in it now and we will be pushing and putting everything on the line for Silverstone.”

Speaking after race one Dixon explained: ““I had a go into Park but I really needed the points and I settled for second and brought it home. I will be having a go and I want to get that win.”
