CADWELL BSB: GLOSSOP WINS RED FLAG RACE

KRP/Bradley Smith Racing’s Martin Glossop was back on the top step of the podium at Cadwell Park this Bank Holiday weekend in the ninth round of the Relentless British 125GP Championship in action packed red flagged race.
Glossop took the lead into the first corner followed by Tom Hayward of KRP/Daniel Weston Racing and pole position man Rob Guiver of SP125/RG Racing who was in third.   It was only a couple of corners later when Guiver moved into second.
The leading two pulled away to make a gap of just under 1.5s by the time they started the second lap, Guiver started as he meant to go on and continued to move into the lead, but Glossop stayed with him.
Glossop and Guiver had a battle of their own exchanging places whilst Hayward fell into the clutches of the following train of eight riders from which he lead until lap four.  Edward Rendell of Team Aztec GP started to push extra hard and dived up the inside of Lodge making him sit up slightly,  but it didn’t take Lodge long to regain his position.
As they continued the lap the race was then red flagged due to Rendell taking a heavy fall coming out of the Barn corner onto the start/finish.  He went on to the grass which through him and the bike down to the ground.  Luckily both were avoided by all riders and Rendell was conscious as he warned other riders of his presence.  He was attended to track side and looks to have suffered a broken leg, but not yet officially confirmed.
The restarted race was for eight laps and it was Glossop again at the front but this time followed by Hayward, Deane Brown of Colin Appleyard/Macadam Racing and Guiver.  On the first lap Guiver moved up to the third, but Glossop was pulling away.  Behan was the man on a charge with him moving up to fourth on lap two, but Brown revenged that back before the end of the race.
Guiver moved to second on lap three but had some work to do to catch Glossop which he did taking Hayward with him. It wasn’t soon until they had caught Glossop and while trying to regain the front Guiver made an error which forced him off track.  He was able to rejoin in tenth and take eighth overall.
This left Glossop and Hayward to battle for the lead as they left the others behind.  With Guiver's change in position Brown was put into third, before continuing a bit of a lonely ride for the remainder of the race.  There were certainly no team order’s between Lodge and Glossop and it was all change as Lodge lead on lap seven he had to pull out due to mechanical problems.  This gave the win to Glossop, second to Brown and Behan rounded off the top three.
Brown also took the win in the cup championship followed by Adam Blacklock of Repli-Cast UK who finished fifth overall and Tim Hastings of KRP/Bradley Smith Racing in seventh.
The restart wasn’t good for Taylor Mackenzie of MMCG Motorpoint who also went off track and rejoined to finish in 20th.   Jay Lewis of SL Racing returned to the track to take a deserved 10th place, better luck than his brother Corey who unfortunately stalled on the grid as the race started, he didn’t continue.
It was a strong race for the ladies with Catherine Green of www.cgracing27.co.uk taking 13th and Nicole McAleer of Megabikes.ie finishing just outside of the points in 16th.
