SP125/Express Forklifts Connor Behan took his first race win of the season putting him joint sixth on 88 points in the overall Relentless British 125GP standings.
It was Martin Glossop of KRP/Bradley Smith Racing who led into the first corner followed by Tim Hastings of KRP/Bradley Smith Racing and Danny Kent of Team Aztec GP wo replaces the injured Edward Rendell. It wasn’t long until the mayhem started as Kent highsided crashing out of the race leaving Rob Guiver of SP125/RG beind him nowhere to go causing him to lose valuable points towards his championship title chase.
This promoted Brian Clark of Banks Racing/Express Racewear to third until a few corners later when Glossop crashed out of the lead allowing everyone to move up an extra place. The battle for the lead truly began between Hastings, Clark along with the addition of Tom Hayward of KRP/Daniel Weston Racing and Behan who had joined the party while Matthew Hoyle of SP125racing/Mackrory Demolition cwas lingering in the background.
Wheel to wheel it was Behan who was the strongest rider and worked his way up through the grid to take second. That’s when the pressure was really put on Clark on lap five, the two pulled away slightly from the others but a lap later Behan took the lead which they battled for to the finish line with a mere 0.53s between them.
Even though current championship leader Lodge finished sixth he still leads the title chase by 22 points after his closest rivals Glossop and Guiver scored no points this weekend.Hastings took the final step of the podium and also the first cup position, while Deane Brown of Colin Appleyard/Macadam Racing took the second trophy in fifth and Adam Blacklock of Repli-cast UK took third in the cup with his overall seventh place finish.
