CROFT BSB: KENT REPLACES INJURED RENDELL

Team Aztec’s Danny Kent made an eye catching start in his debut to the Relentless British 125GP championship at Croft as he steps in to replace Edward Rendell who was injured at Cadwell Park two weeks ago.
Rendell broke his leg abruptly ending his 2009 season, he returned home earlier this week after having an operation to pin his leg and is now on the slow frustrating road to recovering.  Team manager Bryan Fortje said: “Edward is very frustrated with not being here, we had a bit of a struggle at the start of the season with the problems with the fuel and then we missed a couple of rounds to spend some time testing.  Since then he has had some strong results.  We will be running Edward next year and he is already talking about 2010.”
For the remainder of the season it is Danny Kent who takes the seat and following only two practice sessions on both a circuit and bike he as never been on before he is took the sixth fastest time yesterday afternoon, the third fastest cup rider.
Kent said: “This is my first ever race in British Championship I have ridden in the British Superteens in MRO then from there I went straight to the Red Bull Moto GP Academy in the Spainish Championship and all this year I’ve been riding in the Red Bull Rookies in which I have finished fourth and had several podiums.”
“The guys are fast here and if we keep going as we are maybe a podium is possible.  There are a few things to change, we've made changes to the bike because of the bumps here.  It was unfortunate that Edward was injured, but I was able to step in as my season in Red Bull Rookies is over.  I have been invitied back next season to Red Bull so I will probably be back there, it brings your riding on so much. As for anything else we will see and that will be down to my manager really.”
The Tetbury rider got into racing simply by going to his local track at which he spotted the minimotos.  After taking numerous Minimoto Championship titles he progressed onto the 125cc’s allowing him to cause quite a stir whereever he goes.
