CROFT BSB: SATISFYING WEEKEND FOR TINMOUTH

Jenny Tinmouth achieved a satisfying 26th place in round ten of the Fuchs-Silkolene British Supersport Championship at Croft, North Yorkshire, on Sunday. She finished in seventh place of the cup competitors, a result that moves her back up into eighth place in the standings for the privateers.

Riding her Hollins Motorsport backed Honda CBR600RR for the first time around the fast Croft circuit, Tinmouth worked hard during the two free practice sessions on the opening day, completing 43 laps, and improving her times throughout the day.

In the first of two qualifying sessions to determine the grid for Sunday’s race, Tinmouth posted a best lap time of 1'27.790, good enough for 34th position of the 38 competitors, which she would improve on by over a second during the final qualifying period, but remained in 34th position.

“I love the track, but have struggled so far to muscle my bike around, especially through the fast sections. We have made some adjustments to the suspension so let’s see if it helps us,” said Jenny

With further adjustments made during the short warm-up session in an attempt to get the bike to change direction more efficiently, Tinmouth lined up on the grid determined to have a good race.

As the lights went out she made a superb start, making up several positions immediately. Settling into her stride she was riding an impressive race, when unfortunately the red flags came out due to a serious accident, the race being stopped to attend to the injured rider.

Taking her position on the grid for the re-started and shortened race, Tinmouth once more made a terrific start, and with the bike handling much better was able to fend off her rivals in the fast sections. For much of the race she was running in a four way battle with Conor O’Brien, Craig Sproston and Ross Walter.

Showing her racing pedigree, she would keep them all at bay, and finish in 26th place and seventh of the cup competitors, and in the process set a best lap time of 1 minute 25.484 seconds, her fastest ever lap of Croft, and over a second quicker than her qualifying time.

“I had a good weekend at Croft in the end; I had high expectations of a good result, as I love the track," said Jenny.

"I made a couple of mega starts, my best of the season and was pleased to get my times down and into the 25s during the race having been stuck in the 26s throughout qualifying. I really enjoyed the race, and have learned a bit about setting my bike up to suit the track which will benefit me in the future, so all in all happy with Croft, and looking forward to Silverstone in two weeks time.”
