Dixon's Supersport season saved by new sponsor

CF Motorsport’s Jake Dixon has secured some much needed sponsorship after an appeal on bikesportnews.com saw ex-racer Mark Middleton step in with funds that will enable him to compete in the final three Motorpoint British Supersport championship rounds.

The teenager has been out for the last two rounds after a crash at Oulton Park, where he broke his scaphoid, and has been receiving treatment. Dixon is competing in the Supersport Cup and is already in contention to take home the winners trophy.

But the Dover lad was struggling to find the funds to go to Assen, Silverstone and Brands Hatch, but after a donation from American-based Scottish businessman Middleton, the 17-year-old can now continue with his to give Supersport regulars Gearlink Kawasaki’s Alastair Seeley and Mar-Train Yamaha’s Stuart Easton a run for their money.

Dixon’s dad, Darren, is grateful for the support he has received for his son, as without it Dixon's future in this year’s Supersport championship looked bleak.

“I have known Mark for fours year and he has helped us out in the past, and Mark then emailed me to try and help and he really saved the day, which is fantastic. He gave Jake £5,000 which means we can finish the last three meetings,” said Dixon Sr.

“We were going to try and go to the last round at Donington but Jake’s hand injury stopped us, but Mark has made the job much easier. Jake is now getting excited too as he has never been to Assen. But everything has now fallen into place.”
