HM Plant Honda's Josh Brookes is looking for more clarity over what what happened with his brakes just prior to the collision with Sylvain Guintoli on the British Superbike race one sighting lap at Donington Park yesterday.
The Australian was in collision with the French Worx Suzuki rider the Melbourne Loop and Guintoli was taken to hospital with a broken tibia and fibula in his right leg. Stewards initially ruled that brake failure was to blame but data from Brookes' bike shows that ther was brake power, just not enough just prior to the crash.
"I understand that the series organisers have to make judgments and take possible action if necessary with racing incidents. However we still need more clarity about what exactly happened as the data shows the correct initial braking power, but also a drop in brake power just prior to the crash, which the team is investigating further. It's unfortunate Guintoli was caught up in the incident and I really wish him a quick recovery," said Brookes.
Brookes has received a one-race ban, suspended for three meetings, by BSB stewards.
