DONINGTON BSB: BSN.COM IN THE KTM SUPER DUKE BATTLE

Bruce Dunn flies the www.bikesportnews.com banner in the KTM Super Duke Battle at Donington Park this weekend.

Dunn normally races a Yamaha TZ250 within the ACU 250 National Championship which currently he leads, but this weekend he has jumped onto the unknown. He said: "This is completely different to my normal ride. You have to adapt as a rider, you have to put a different technique to the riding. It is more physical than I am used to. The engine is fantastic, it has more power than it is given credit for. It has a perfect blend of power with torque and it is forgiving."

Dunn'ss first practice on Saturday on the 990cc orange and black beast saw him claim seventh out of 24 riders with 1'449. He said: "That's ace, a top ten, that's a good start. This was just a try out session, I had to come in half way through to get them to move the throttle as when I opened it up I felt I couldn't go anymore with my wrist, the throttle needed to go up."

Before the qualifying session first thing this morning Dunn made some changes to the bike which included lowering the handlebars to make it comfortable and more fitting to him as a rider. Bruce has now qualified 11th knocking his time down to 1'447, he said: "We made a few changes, but feel that maybe we may have gone the wrong way with some of them, I thought I was going really well, but obviously everybody else has improved as well and they are also on a familiar bike."

Dunn also recently returned from the North West 200 with which he finished 12th, he said: "It wasn't so good, as each category has two qualifying rounds. I went out on the first one and within a lap and a half a piston shattered so that was the end of that. In the second session there was the incident of Robert Dunlop so nobody went out. After putting my case forward I was allowed to start from the back of the grid, my best ever finish is sixth and we were looking to improve on that. With an event like this you need everything to go right and this time it didn't."

When asked why he has broken away from the screaming two strokes he said: "David [of BSN.com] rang me up and asked if I would be interested. I wanted to try something different and David must have faith in me that I could move the bike up the grid."

Regarding his race that now is undoubtedly due to be wet he said: "We won't be making changes as anything done up to now will be cancelled out due to the weather. It will be an interesting start, with most places I am confident, but Donington's got an extra element of being extra slippy. It will be a case of going and keep making it around."
