Team Blackhorse Yamaha’s Conor Cummins will start from the third row for the Bank Holidays Metzeler National Superstock 1000 race at the Leicestershire circuit of Donington Park.
Cummins feels that starting from 12th on the grid may not be too bad, but was disappointed and annoyed at the actions of other riders that may have hindered the chance of a higher position.
“It is so hard to get a good lap in, people are not getting out of the way and cruising on the racing line. When you are on a fast lap it is difficult to take in and decide how to deal with it without you losing time,” Cummins frustratingly stated after his second qualifying session.
Cummins said: “Everybody has probably done it at some point, but it seems to be regularly and so many are doing it, it shouldn’t be happening especially at this level. It is also a shame, it is not a criticism, but we are only have 25 minutes, we could really do with longer to give us more of a chance.”
The Ramsey rider returns from taking part in the recent North West 200 in which he finished fifth in the Dewalt Performance Tools Superbike, seventh in the CP Hire Limited Superstock and 13th Clinton Enterprises Supersport.
Cummins said: “My road racing is going brilliant, we did well at the North West 200 and I am really looking forward to the TT. I will be racing in all the classes that I can.”
Focusing on the challenge at hand Cummins will be making some changes to the Yamaha R1 before tomorrow and preparing himself mentally to work his way through the riders ahead.
