DONINGTON BSB: ELLISON WINS FIRST-EVER BSB RACE

Airwaves Yamaha's James Ellison has finally won his first-ever British Superbike race in the second leg at Donington Park this afternoon as team-mate Leon Camier sensationally pulled out and then re-joined with a technical fault on lap three.
Ellison, who has was the Privateer Cup Champion in 2004, crossed the line two and a half seconds in front of Hydrex Honda's Stuart Easton with a resurgent Chris Walker in third and a battling Simon Andrews in fourth. The race was red-flagged initially after Karl Harris's engine let go and he crashed on water leaking out of his radiator.

At the re-start, Walker got away from the lights first but only held the lead until McLeans when HM Plant Honda's Glen Richards went past with Camier holding third in front of Easton.

A lap later, Camier slipped underneath Walker into the Foggy Esses but the Stalker was back past at the Melbourne Loop as Jason O'Halloran and David Johnson took each other out.

On lap three, Camier was back past the Motorpoint Yamaha through the Old Hairpin but disaster struck at the Melbourne Loop as the Kent youngster coasted to halt. He flicked a few switches, kicked something and his R1 barked back into life, re-joining in 25th and last.

Walker and Ellison then began to trade places as Andrews held a watching brief in fifth place, shadowing Richards in fourth as the other MSS Kawasaki of Julien Da Costa starting to reel in the pack.

Easton went past Walker into the Esses on lap six for the lead but the Stalker fought back. It wasn't until lap eight that both the Airwaves Yamaha and Hydrex Honda made moves stick, and Walker was shuffled back to third.

Josh Brookes rounded off a horrid weekend, crashing out at Foggy's as Ellison pulled away. Easton held station in second with Walker third, and Andrews and Richards fighting for fourth.

Da Costa was sitting behind his team-mate as he battled with Richards but as the Aussie began to fade, Andrews was then in a straight scrap with his team-mate. The Evesham man eventually got the better of the Frenchman who eventually faded right back to 11th.

Relentless Suzuki's Ian Lowry once again fought through the field into sixth place with Superbike Cup runaway leader Gary Mason in seventh and Tristan Palmer in eighth.

Camier had managed to get as far up the finishing list at ninth but then made another mistake on the penultimate lap, eventually crossing the line in 12th. Harris crashed again on the last lap.
