DONINGTON BSB: HALLETT WORKING HARD TO LEARN THE YAMAHA

Team Co-Ordit’s David Hallett continues to battle through the challenge of adapting to the Yamaha 600 at the third round of the Fuchs-Silkolene British Supersport Championship at Donington Park.
Hallett has gained the support of the Co-Ordit team and manager Pete Bradshaw in addition to his continued sponsor Ross Aldridge Solicitors.  Hallett returns to the championship but has a steep learning curve ahead with the change from the Triumph he was riding last season.
Hallett said: “The bike rides totally different, I’ve got to change my riding style and get used to how this bike works.  Also we have no data to compare to, we are starting from scratch with regards to settings generally.”
Even though Hallett is disappointed with where he has been running this weekend in regards to position, his lap times have already improved by two and half seconds on last year and he has gradually progressed throughout the weekend.
The weekend wasn’t without challenge after he suffered a high speed crash at Craners Curve, in which as he slid down the road, he opened eyes to see the R6 in the air directly above him before it fortunately landed three feet away from him when they both came to a stop.
Hallett is gaining as much time on the bike as he can and takes part in club championships including the recent North Gloucestershire George White 600 Incorporating the Co-Ordit Performance Championship.
The race took part at the fast circuit of Snetterton and this put into perspective is capability on the Yamaha after he started from the back of the grid to finish fourth overall in the seven lap race.
Hallett said: “We are progressing and trying new things all the time and we are improving.”  He is determined to gain more points in Monday’s race towards the Cup Championship standings in which he currently sits ninth.
