DONINGTON BSB: HAMILTON TAKES POLE FOR GEARLINK

Gearlink Kawasaki’s Jamie Hamilton took pole position in his debuting weekend for the team in the Metzeler National Superstock 600 Championship at Donington Park this Bank Holiday Weekend.
Hamilton has not had a great start to his 2009 season, he had to miss the opening round at Brands Hatch due to funding, he rode for the Astro Kawasaki team at Oulton Park and even though he finished 14th picking up two points, he knew he could do more.
Gearlink have been supporting Hamilton for the past three years and now this weekend he is riding solely for the team and for the rest of the season.  The Ballyclare rider has topped the timing sheet in first practice, then slipped down slightly to second in the final practice session before taking pole for Mondays race in qualifying.
Hamilton said: “My season didn’t get off to a good start, but hopefully now it will change.  Regarding testing I’ve only had two sessions on the bike at Mallory before coming here, but the track is very different to Donington.”
“It’s great that I now have this ride and in time for two of my favourite tracks Donington and Thruxton.  I had a fourth here last year and at Thruxton I was on the podium.  Like I said, Gearlink have been helping me for years so I knew they had a good package and it’s made a great difference.”
Hamilton has been consistent throughout the weekend, there were a few changes made to the ZXR600 after the first practice session, which he didn’t like so he has reverted back to the previous settings, but this didn’t stop him producing impressive results.
To make Hamilton’s weekend even more memorable, one of his closes friends Alastair Seeley of Relentless Suzuki by TAS also claimed pole in the Metzeler National Superstock 1000 category.
“I am really good friends with Alastair and his dad, I’ve always watched him, up on those podiums, getting poles and just thought I could do that, I want to do that.  To actually have now done it, is great,” Hamilton excitably said whilst wearing a huge, proud grin.
Talking about his now existing and promising 2009 season, Hamilton said: “I intend to try and win as many races as I can and we will see what points I have at the end of the season.  I would like to thank Gearlink Kawasaki for giving me this opportunity and to Harry and Karl Corbett for all their help."
