Gearlink Kawasaki’s Jamie Hamilton takes the win by just under two seconds in the Metzeler National Superstock 1000 Championship at Donington Park in his debuting weekend for the team.
From the off the battle for the lead was between Hamilton and Daniel Frear of France and Li Asia Trading until Frear crashed out of the lead in lap two. This meant that Hamilton could concentrate are getting away from his attackers to eventually take the win.
The main battle of the race was for second place between Jess Trayler of MSS Colchester Kawasaki, Daniel Kneen of Marks Bloom Racing and Joe Burns of Splitlath Motorsport. After swapping position numerous times Burns fell down the order to finish sixth overall. Leon Hunt of Team Co-Ordit along with Matt Bilton of HB Motorcycles Racing moved up the order to join the party.
Hunt was a main contender for the second place, he ran wide at Melbourne loop and successfully managed to brake and still make the turn losing a couple of places in the meantime with him finishing 5th overall.
It was Bilton who was then mixed up with Trayler and Kneen who provided the spectators with some breath taking manoeuvres. Kneen made a final attempt on the last lap at Melbourne loop that caused him to run wide, this allowed Trayler to go back through. Kneen also lost a place to Bilton which he regained immediately to cross the race in third place behind Trayler.
Nine riders didn’t finish the race including Nikki Coates of MAP Raceways Yamaha Junior team who looked to have had contact with another rider in the middle of the pack forcing him to crash at Redgate on the first lap.
James East of East Racing bike was left stranded in the middle of the track after he crashed at the Esses, once riders had passed he safely returned to track to remove the bike and the race was able to continue.
All riders who did not finish fortunately look to be ok and out of the nine riders there was only one technical failure for Cody Nally of MAP Raceways Yamaha.
