DONINGTON BSB: KENNAUGH NOT DISAPPOINTED WITH WSB LOSS

Linxcel-Seton Tuning’s Hudson Kennaugh continued battle for the Fuchs-Silkolene British Supersport Championship was off to a flying start with him finishing fifth and sixth in Saturday’s practices sessions at Donington Park this Bank Holiday Weekend.
The South African rider was tipped to ride for Paul Bird’s Kawasaki World Superbike Team at Kyalami to replace the injured Makoto Tamada, but was pipped to the post by Sheridan Morais.
Kennaugh said: “I had the call and was getting ready to go, but we were waiting for the final word from Kawasaki.”
“Sheridan [Morais] had put in a request for a ride a couple of months ago and he currently races for Kawasaki, but at least I am one of those that were considered.  Even though in my deal with Seton I am allowed to ride for others as long as it is not in BSB or the ride conflicts with a BSB weekend, but there are others things to consider.”
“Like the travelling and schedule of taking part, it’s a ten hour flight back home for example, time on track etc.., this can all affect how you are physically and mentally so I have to take that into account.  My main focus is British Supersport.”
Talking about his season so far Kennaugh said: “It has been the best/worst start to a season I’ve ever had.  We had a solid start at Brands, at Oulton I was pushing really hard and got caught out with the weather and crashed.  I need to just find the balance, I’ve definitely matured.”
“The teams really good, we have moulded around each other and it is working really well.  I knew the bike was fast before, that was one of the main reasons for joining the team.  We’ve got new bits this weekend including new carbon fairings and this is one of my favourite circuits.  It is hard to say which is my favourite circuit, I like Brands and Oulton as well.  They are technical, but Donington is a proper GP track.”
