Quay Honda’s Gary Mason has been the talk of the Visk British Superbike Cup category with his regular appearance in the top ten battling against main championship contenders on a 2007 Honda CBR1000.
The Tamworth rider returns to the team after joining them part way through last season. The combination of the team’s dedicated work, refreshed engine and rider’s determination are shown in the results with Mason sitting seventh overall in the championship standings. He has continuously been running in the top 15 in each of the sessions so and has finished in the top ten in all four races so far this season.
Mason said: “It’s all good, but as usual it’s hard when you are on such a tight budget. It’s a great package and we are so passionate and working hard for this. Last year I wasn’t with the team at the start of the season, so it’s good to be here from the beginning and be in the top ten in the championship.”
It is well known that racing is not a cheap passion, it is difficult for any rider or team to be able to keep doing what they love the most. This is what caused Mason, his team and sponsors to work together and create the scheme Funded By Fans’.
Whilst helping his title chase, this also gives the opportunity for his fans to enter a competition offering a chance to win a variety of prizes throughout the season in addition to the ultimate prize of a Brand new CBR600 at the end of the year. For more information log onto www.fundedbyfans.co.uk.
