Smiths Triumph’s Billy McConnell has already notched up one Motorpoint British Supersport win today at Donington Park, and now wants to do the double on Sunday.
The Adelaide-born rider got the better of Mar-Train Yamaha’s Stuart Easton and made it two on the bounce, after he dominated in the last round at Cadwell Park. McConnell out paced fellow Aussie and team-mate Glen Richards to secure the win, with Richards ending the day on the third step of the podium.
The rider is now hungry for more rostrums and is now happy with the setup of his bike, after changes were carried out to the handling, exhaust and engine.
“I am feeling really good, it is my second win on the bounce and it is a big credit to the Smiths team as the bike is coming on well. It is late in the season but we always knew the potential of the handling and engine power,” said McConnell, speaking to bikesportnews.com from the circuit.
“It is also good to see Glen back on the podium. We clawed back a lot of points and we are only 57 off the lead. It was a bit close there with Easton, but we are looking forward to a good end of the season.
“If I don’t win races and start to give points away then we wont have a strong end to the season. We have to be a bit ruthless, but I don’t want to upset anyone. I am really happy, and hopefully get another win tomorrow and maybe get some points off the green bikes of Wilson and Seeley.”
