Team WD-40’s Taylor Mackenzie had a challenging debut in the MCE British Superbike class at Donington Park. The youngster was blighted by technical difficulties and had to retire to the pits in both races on Monday.
There was not one major issue with his bike, but a few little things. The former Motorpoint British Supersport rider is not feeling too down heartened about it as he knows his team are working hard to get his Kawasaki right for the next round at the Brands Hatch Indy circuit in two weeks. Mackenzie can definitely see the potential in the machine and wants just a bit more track time out on the bike.
“We had a bit of a nightmare really, it is a bit unfortunate but it is all behind us now and we will get a few more laps in at Brands Hatch Indy as we didn’t get them this weekend. But it is no one's fault and I can't thank the team enough for all their hard work as they didn’t stop,” said Mackenzie, speaking to bikesportnews.com at the track.
“I enjoyed my first weekend on the bike and I think that we can keep getting faster and faster all year. We had a few technical issues – it was a mix of things so not really one thing that kept going on, but it will be fixed for the next round which is great.
“Over the winter I was nervous as I didn’t know how I would fit in or how far off I would be - but after two sessions on Saturday I was only 2.4 seconds off and with the short amount of time we did during testing, I am really pleased about that."
