Honda Racing’s Jason O’Halloran came away from his MCE British Superbike test crash at Donington Park pretty much unscathed, but even though he was not hurt the same could not be said for his bike.
His team will now be putting his Fireblade back together but the Australian will be ready for the opening round at the track next week. O’Halloran, like many riders only took part in the final session yesterday and that meant he only put down eight fast laps before he took at tumble at the Melbourne Hairpin.
But the Honda man is not getting too down hearted about the incident and is confident that he can pick up some serious points in the opening BSB round, and hopes he will progress on his Superbike throughout the year.
“There were no major issues from the crash I have a little bit of a sore hip, but disappointed that I only got in eight flying laps. We had a small issue that caused the crash and we will make a change for next week - I am sure it won’t happen again,” said O’Halloran, speaking to bikesportnews.com.
“I am looking forward to starting the season now and testing is all done and dusted and it is time to get down to serious business. There was some damage to the bike so the boys have got a bit of a job on but we have plenty of spares and parts and hopefully that’s the last one we will have for a while.
“I have been with Honda UK for five years and I have been striding to get into the Superbike class for a while so it is great to get stuck in. I want to get two strong point finishes and no injuries and build into the season. I want to be at the sharp end of the field next week and to take it step by step.”
