Honda Racing’s Jenny Tinmouth did not qualify for the MCE British Superbike Q1 session at Donington Park this afternoon, and is now concentrating on getting “two solid races” under her belt on Monday.
Tinmouth crashed during the free practice sessions on Friday, and felt that this incident meant she lost out on a lot of valuable track time. She will use warm up tomorrow morning to try out some new things on her machine, but she is still adapting her riding style to suit her brand new bike.
She is enjoying being part of the Honda family, but still feels a tad “gutted” that she gave her crew some extra work to do, after what she described was a “silly crash”. Tomorrow is a new day for Tinmouth and all she wants to do is complete the two Superbike races tomorrow and bring back some valuable data to the team.
“It is really good and enjoy riding it [the bike] and getting used to the differences from my old bike. It is quite a lot lighter and feels tighter and mine felt quite loose as it was quite used, as this bike now is brand new. Donington is one of my favourite tracks but also the one I have some difficulty with, especially in the Foggy Esses and the Melbourne Loop, but the rest of the track I really love as it is really fast and flowy,” said Tinmouth, speaking to bikepsortnews.com, from the team truck.
“I just want to get in two solid races, and get the first one out of the way and it will be good to try and improve in warm up. I had an off yesterday so it kind of put us back a bit, so I am trying a few more things in warm up tomorrow.
“I was fine after the crash, but I was just gutted really as it was a silly off which I didn’t expect to have, but was a bit gutted that I gave my team a bit of work to do straight away, but it is good to get that out of the way and christen everything, so it is not too bad. The team is amazing and really professional and know what they are doing - everyone is really nice and I am chuffed to be part of it.”
