Hydrex Honda's Stuart Easton will test a Kenny Roberts-built swingarm in his Fireblade at Cadwell Park in order to improve edge grip but has warned it will only work when he is right on the limit.
The swingarm, which has been loaned to the team by Paul Bird, will increase the stiffness of the bike's rear end this increasing the amount of grip Easton will have when right on the tyre edge.
"The swingarm is stiffer but Stuart has said it will only work when he is right on the edge of grip," said crew chief Mick Shanley, talking to bikesportnews.com this morning.
"It's a time-consuming process getting the wheels to fit because we have been using the kit swingarm all year so the disc spaces and wheel spacers are all different. It's not difficult, it just takes time. We might be able to test the setup before Cadwell, otherwise it will come out on the Friday.
"I am taking one of the bikes to a kart track later on today to try out some new parameters with the traction control. I have even got my own open-faced helmet to use and everything..."
