HASTINGS IN TEAM ROBERTS-STYLE SPONSORSHIP DRIVE

Reigning ACU Academy Cup holder Tim Hastings, is looking to race fans to get behind his bid to win the overall British 125GP Championship in 2009 - and is offering friends and supporters the chance to get their names on his KRP race bike.

Falkirk-based Team Twister is hoping that 16-year old Tim’s many fans will put their hands in their pockets to help in funding this year’s campaign - and he will carry those supporters with him for all 12 rounds of this year’s Championship – much in the same way that Team Roberts did a couple of years ago.

As Tim’s father Tony explained: “It’s not a totally new idea, but a lot of people picked up on Tim’s great success last season and have wanted to become more involved as he bids for the 2009 title.

"In the current economic climate it has become increasingly difficult to attract larger corporate sponsors, but the enthusiasm of individual race fans is as strong as ever, and we know from talking to Tim’s supporters that many would like to become a part of such a successful team.”

The team is offering three sponsor packages aimed at individuals and clubs. A minimum £25 donation will receive a Team Twister T-shirt and a sponsor listing on Tim’s website. In addition, those giving £50 will also get a signed A3 size poster and a direct e-mailing of Tim’s race report after every round - while anyone making a minimum £100 donation will receive all the above and get their name on the side of Tim’s KRP Honda for the entire season.

Additionally, throughout the season all contributors will go into a series of 12 prize draws to win a pair of tickets to each BSB round, where they will be the special guests of Team Twister.

Tony added: “Tim had an amazing season last year and we hope to go one step better in 2009, so we’re confident that anyone contributing to Tim’s challenge will be supporting a genuine front runner who is sure to get plenty of TV coverage.

"We hope that this opportunity will appeal to both individuals and bike clubs who want to be actively involved with racing and are keen to do a little bit more than just watch from the sidelines. We’ve already had a great response and I’m sure many more names will appear on Tim’s website - and his bike - over the next few weeks.”
