Swan Yamaha's Tommy Hill has settled on which engine specification he will start the 2012 British Superbike Championship with following two days of back-to-back testing and now has two days at Almeria to fine-tune maps and fuelling.
Hill spent a good proportion of today testing a camshaft with less lift than the one he used yesterday but has opted to return to the Friday setting while team-mate Noriyuki Haga has continued with fuelling work as track testing has not replicated results found on the team's dyno.
"We are going to use the original specification engine as the higher lift cams are more aggressive and give us a bit more engine braking than the softer ones, which we need on corner entry," said team boss Shaun Muir, speaking to bikesportnews.com this afternoon on his way to the airport.
"The results out here didn't replicate what we had seen on the dyno so there is still a lot of fine tuning to do, which the boys can achieve over the next two days at Almeria."
