Irish teenager Stuart Elwood will not only face completing his GSCEs this summer, but the lad who last season raced in his first year in the British 125GP Championships will be taking on a new challenge for the forth coming 2009 season when he into the the Superstock 600 Cup.
Elwood goes to a new team this year which has only recently been formed and will see him joining forces with Ballyclare rider, Jamie Hamilton, under the watchful eyes of Harry Corbett who will be managing the new Northern Irish team running as a satellite team to Saton Tuning Racing who have been running successfully over the last number of seasons in the British Supersport Championship.
The team are yet to announce an overall sponsor and the actual name of the team but the two-rider outfit are on Yamahas, and are currently on the look out for sponsorship.
Elwood will be taking with him to the new team a number of familiar faces who have helped him throughout his short career and who without their invaluable support would struggle to make it to the race track, including his long term spanner man, Steven “Jonty” Johnston, his manager Albert Kirk (better known as head camera man for UTV) and Mark Elwood (better known as father to Stuart and “team gopher”).
Elwood would like to take this opportunity to thank all his sponsors from 2008, including Albert Kirk (sponsor and manager), Lagan Valley Steels, Moto Tech, Bridgestone Tyres (Stevie McDonald for his patience!), Auto Sign, Dunmurray for the graphics on the bike, Sprint Auto, Steven Johnston for all his hard work, his parents and everyone in the British 125GP Championship who welcomed them and helped the team throughout the season.
The 125cc Honda which Elwood competed with at the British Championship’s and the Sunflower Trophy last season has been put up for sale as the teenager clearly out grew the small bike during the season and anyone who is interested in buying the machine which finished 4th and 10th at the Sunflower can contact Mark Elwood on 07775 528662, perspective sponsors can also contact Mark on this number, all sponsorship will be welcome and in return depending on the level of sponsorship your company can have advertising space on the race bike, van and internet.
Elwood is also hoping to take in selected rounds of the Irish Championship this season and again take in the Sunflower Trophy at the end of the season, along side of his British Championship campaign.
