After a disappointing start to his 2013 MCE British Superbike title campaign at Brands, Samsung Honda's Ryuichi Kiyonari is looking for some extra grip when he starts free practice on Friday at the Hampshire circuit.
The three-time champion could only muster one top-five result from Brands Hatch but said he spend a lot of time trying new parts over the opening weekend.
"I am a bit disappointed really with my results but we spent a lot of time over the weekend working on settings and trying out parts because of the lack of testing time that we have had," said Kiyonari.
"My morning warm-up time was not as bad as it looked as again in that session we were still trying things out and was I was not pushing too much. We’ve learned a lot over this weekend which we will put to good use for the next round.”
"Thruxton is very fast, more wide than other circuits but we learned a lot during the weekend at Brands Hatch. We will also be looking at getting a bit more grip. All of this will be put to good use in these races where I will be looking for good results."
