Crocked British Superbike star Simon Andrews will have to stop every hour on the long drive to Knockhill today in order to put ice on the injuries that ruled him out of Brands Hatch World Superbikes.
The Lloyds British Jentin Yamaha rider spoke to BSN.com on his way to Scotland and he said that although his damaged knee is feeling better, he is going to have to be on it from first thing Friday morning. But he has to see if he can actually ride first.
"It's a long way to Knockhill," said Andrews. "I will have to stop every hour to put ice on my knee and hand and to train on a spin bike for 20 minutes. It's going to take me a long time to get there!
"My knee doesn't feel too bad but my hand still hurts. At least I didn't break any bones, otherwise I would be out. I have never ridden a Superbike at Knockhill, so I can't afford to take it easy in free practices.
"I am going to have to be on it and trying from the word go. The aim is to see if I can ride, and then the next one is to stick with [Michael] Laverty and get some points. I think I might be in a bit of pain by the end of Sunday."
