WFR Honda's Alex Lowes ripped into MCE British Superbike title contention at Cadwell Park, bagging his first podium after a second pole position bagged in tricky conditions at the Linconshire circuit.
The local boy, whose twin brother Sam races in World Supersport, says he has calmed down his all-action riding style now and believes his is capable of top-five results for the rest of the year.
He leapfrogs Ian Lowry and Alastair Seeley in the race for the last two Showdown spots after the Irishmen had poor weekends, while Noriyuki Haga didn't race as he broke his collarbone on Saturday.
"We wanted to be fighting for podiums and that was a great race for us. I was riding around and thinking about just keeping consistent. We have taken positives throughout the weekend and now we have been on the podium once we should be aiming for at least the top five in every race," said Lowes.
"Since Sam won in World Supersport I've had weeks of abuse about not getting the results but now I have. And the secret to success? I've calmed my riding down a bit and now will keep on riding like this."
