MALLORY BSB: CAMIER WINS RED-FLAGGED SECOND RACE

Airwaves Yamaha's Leon Camier has taken the second-race win at Mallory Park this afternoon which was stopped after 16 laps because standing water on the track made it too dangerous to continue.

BSB Race Director Stuart Higgs was forced to bring the race to a halt due to deep standing water at Gerrards Corner which made the fast first turn far too treacherous. Half points have been awarded as the race did not reach two-thirds distance.
Camier's team-mate James Ellison took second place, which was a reversal of race one's one-two, while Motorpoint Yamaha's Chris Walker was finished third, taking his second podium of the season.

It was Walker who got off the line quickest with Worx Suzuki's Tommy Hill and Co-ordit Yamaha's Richard Cooper following him into Gerrards. Cooper was straight up the inside of Hill into the first chicane who was then also passed by Camier.

After one lap, Walker was one and a half seconds in front as Hill slowly made his way back down the order. It is the first time the former World Superbike man has ridden his Suzuki in the wet and Buildbase Kawasaki's John Laverty was also soon past.

As Walker maintained his gap, Hydrex Honda's Stuart Easton came into the pits because he had chosen the wrong compound rear wet tyre and had no grip to speak off.

Cooper set about reeling Walker in and with six laps gone took the lead. A lap later Camier tried to pass Walker into Gerrards but Walker was back past into the next chicane, sitting Camier up in the process.

The Kent youngster finally made his pass stick on lap eight as Laverty began to catch the front four, lapping more than a second faster and towing Michael Rutter and Karl Harris with him.

Lap nine saw Camier put a block pass on Cooper for the lead at Edwina's and that was the last the field saw of the Airwaves Yamaha. His team-mate put a pass on Walker two laps later and then went past Cooper through Devil's Elbow to take second.

On lap 14, Walker got past Cooper for third going into the hairpin and Cooper was further demoted as he was passed by Laverty a lap later. The race was then stopped and the result declared.

Rutter managed to put a gap on Harris to make sixth his own with Hill eighth, HM Plant Honda's Steve Brogan coming from the back of the grid to take ninth and Julien Da Costa tenth.

Simon Andrews was on a hybrid bike made of parts nicked from Da Costa's ZX-10R and attached to the number one bike that was damaged in the first race as his second bike broke down in the 10-minute wet practice before race two.

HM Plant Honda's Josh Brookes did not start as he has snapped a tendon in his thumb and may not take part in the next race at Brands Hatch. Peter Hickman was second on the Superbike Cup podium behind Cooper with Kenny Gilbertson third.
