MALLORY BSB: HIPWELL WANTS BAD LUCK TO STOP

CDH Racing's Dean Hipwell continues to hold third place in the Fuchs-Silkolene British Supersport Championship Cup Championship this weekend for the seventh round at Mallory which took place under testing and uncontrollably conditions.
Declared a wet race the track continued to dry making the race outcome more unpredictable than usual.  Hipwell who early on in the season was leading the Cup series and who is still by no means out of the running has also scored 20 points in the main championship.
Even though out of seven races Hipwell has stood on the Cup podium six times taking a win, two seconds and three third places he is not happy with how this year has gone for him and his team.
Hipwell said: “I am not happy has we’ve had four engines blow up and general bad luck.  We had a clutch break and the new one we have is not the one we wanted so we are just managing through this weekend at Mallory with it, but hopefully we'll have the proper one for Brands.”
“The suspension has really been setup since the first round at Brands but we are down on power, at Knockhill we were down seven horsepower. I am happy with my riding just need more luck.  The championship is good and it pushes you more and more to get that extra one tenth that makes all the difference.”
Hipwell was happy enough with his result this weekend taking second in the cup and finishing 12th overall just outside the top ten in unfavourable conditions and is looking forward to the next round of Brands Hatch to continue to do well for all who support him through the weekend and his sponsors which also include Atherton Godfrey Solicitors and Selby Signs.
Analysing a couple of the trying weekends through the year Hipwell said: “Oulton was good, winning the cup and fourth overall.  That weekend I had two engines blow so my family drove home and made one good engine out of the two and we just put it in before warm up on race day.  Then we got a great result.”
“At Snetterton I felt I could have won but the bike was misfiring all the way through the race.  I feel I should be in the main points generally, top three in the cup if not winning.  It would be good just to have no bad luck, not even good luck but for the bad luck to just stop would be nice.”
Hipwell will back on track for more battles in three weeks time at the Kent circuit of Brands Hatch on the GP circuit on which he finished 12th and second in the Supersport Cup last year in the season finale, which secured his third place in the Cup Championship standings overall.
