VISK BRITISH SUPERBIKE CHAMPIONSHIP
Tommy Hill – Worx Crescent Suzuki (Q=2nd, R1=DNF, R2=8th)
“I was obviously disappointed not to turn our good pace at Mallory into a pair of good results. I was instantly very impressed by the Suzuki and of course riding with a team that has such a great pedigree in BSB gives me the best possible chance of success. Brands Hatch is my home circuit, so I'm very happy to be back on the bike for this round and feeling very confident now I've had some time on the bike now too.”
Peter Hickman – Ultimate Racing (Q=19th, R1=12th Cup=3rd, R2=14th Cup=2nd)
“I figured this was going to be a hard weekend but it turned out to be more difficult than we anticipated. First of all we had to adjust to the new forks and then in practice the crank snapped. It’s not done many miles and it is a standard crank so really it shouldn’t be doing that.”
“So that messed up our number one bike so we had to borrow my sponsor’s road bike that he uses on track days. We put the forks and yolks and swing arm on it and we were ready to go. To be fair I didn’t think I would get into the top 20 so to finish qualifying in 19th place is good.”
Tom Tunstall – Hardinge Doodson Motorsport (Q=21st, R1=13th Cup=4th, R2=17th Cup=4th)
“The track is a bit small for Superbikes really, it's been a learning curve here this weekend and its sounds strange but I’ve had to slow down to go faster. My corner speed is a strength at most circuits but you have to sacrifice it here, get the bike turned and get out of the tight corners as fast as possible. I’m pleased to be lapping so much faster than previous years but it’s very tight.
“It’s really frustrating that we didn’t get chance to restart the second race and I’m gutted I missed out on the podium but I guess there was no choice with all the rain and track flooding. This was always going to be a tough weekend as it’s not a strong circuit at all for me and I’ve learnt a lot. In both the wet and dry I’ve had the pace for the podium and although it’s frustrating that we didn’t turn that potential into silverware it certainly bodes well for the coming races.”
Dave Johnson – Team Maxxis (Q=14th, R1=9th, R2=11th)
“Race Two was really difficult. I had a troubled start and the visibility was so poor, we were all banging in to each other at the first turn. It was really treacherous. I can recommend not going around Gerald’s at 100mph in those conditions. It was great to finish in the points for both races, especially as my parents were over from Australia.”
“I am really pleased and the team have done a great job. We have qualified stronger and gained more championship points at the start of the second half of the season, which is a real testament to the effort, put in by the guys back at the garage.”
FUCHS-SILKOLENE BRITISH SUPERSPORT CHAMPIONSHIP
James Westmoreland – JW Racing (Q=4th, R=DNF)
"To say I am gutted is a massive understatement, it is the first time I have not finished a race since October 2005 but we can take many positives from the weekend. I had been so fast and consistent on Saturday and Sunday morning and the bike is in a class of its own at the moment in the Supersport Championship so full credit to JT Engine Developments.”
“I am confident we can go to the last five rounds and fight for the win at every race. We have a great package and team and we are all very excited to battle to move back up the Championship order. I would just like to thank everyone who is part of the team, sponsors, my family and all the loyal fans. Onwards and upwards for Brands"
Ben Wilson – Gearlink Kawasaki (Q=3rd, R=2nd)
“I am so pleased, both for the team and myself that we have been able to give Gearlink Kawasaki their first one two in a race. The tyres we picked paid off and we were able to remain in control of the race. Once again I have to thank the Gearlink Kawasaki team for all their hard work and also my own sponsors who are keeping me out there.”
“I am only a handful of points behind the series leader and I will be striving to move closer next time out. There are five rounds left to run in this year’s championship and I see no reason why I cannot be up there challenging for the title. The Gearlink Kawasaki machine is strong and the team have worked really hard to give me the best package out there. I intend to repay them for all their hard work with some more good results over the next few weeks.”
Tom Grant – Centurion Racing (Q=5th, R=11th)
"I'm gutted I got a jump start as I knew my times had been good all weekend. The English weather decided to play its part and as the heavens opened I was just thinking we didn't need that. I'd been running really well all weekend and was really looking forward to the race and finally getting a good result this weekend.”
“Once again luck didn't seem to be on my side, I didn't realise I'd made a jump start but I was soon notified. I'm just gutted I just want to get some decent results under my belt. I'm also gutted for the Centurion team as they have all worked so hard this season.”
Daniel Cooper – Centurion Racing (Q=10th, R=8th)
“At Oulton Park we were thrown into a tyre gamble like this and I went with a similar tyre set up to what I used there when I won but this time it just wasn't to be. The track dried really quickly and after about 14 laps I knew that we were all going to be pushing on the limit to try and get a good result.”
“Those intermediates don't like very dry tarmac so I knew I had to salvage what I could from it all. I was right behind Westy when his bike had a problem and it covered my visor in oil so it made it very difficult to see after that. I'm still fourth in the Championship and really looking forward to Brands in a couple of weeks time.”
Steve Plater – H M Plant Honda (Q=6th, R=7th)
“I was being hindered by a few riders who passed me and pushed me wide at the start which lost me a little bit of time. They were all banging into each other during the first few laps and I didn’t want to risk a crash as I have a lot more to lose than them as I hold the series lead.”
“It is frustrating when you do all the hard work all weekend and you are on the pace and then it is all down to a lottery on tyre choice because of the weather. It is so hard to pass here at the best of times but the dry line at the Esses was only 150mm wide so it was virtually impossible to make a safe pass.”
“We are still leading the championship by 11 points and I am on the pace so I am not whinging but it’s so disappointing for both myself and the crew that we are on the pace all weekend and come the race we get a lower result than we would have hoped for, but that’s racing for you.”
David Hallett - Team Co-Ordit (Q=28th, R=DNF)
“After missing Knockhill through injury I looking to pick up some points at Mallory. I got a real good start and picked up ten places in two laps to be knocking on the door of the top 20. However, as the race went on my injured ankle just got worse and worse and I just couldn’t change gear any more. Very frustrating, but then that’s racing as they say. On to my home round at Brands now where I’ll be fully fit.”

BJ Toal – Rob Mac Proride (Q=23rd, R=6th)
“That certainly brought a smile back to my face, I was up for a gamble with tyres as I knew it would dry fast, not sure about full dry tyres but trusted the team and got a great result so very happy, the dry line got wider and I could start passing some of the riders, coming from 24th on lap one to 6th at the flag was a real buzz.”
Brendan Roberts – NW200 Coca Cola Zero (Q=16th, R=5th)
“What a great result, before the rain came it was going to be tough, I must admit the tyre decision was a bit scary but you have to trust your team and they got it perfect, from the fifth row on the grid we did not have much to lose, there was only myself and BJ on dry tyres and we both had a great race, big thanks to Spider and Karl for working hard this weekend.”
