Halsall Racing’s new recruit Tommy Bridewell is adjusting to life in a new team after leaving Bathams Honda a few weeks ago, and it is so far so good for the Devizes lad.
Bridewell had two top ten finishes in the MCE British Superbike free practice sessions at Oulton Park today and feels like ‘himself’ again. Even though he is happy with the bike and his team he understands that improvements need to be made, before the races tomorrow.
“It is good and nice to be back riding a competitive bike; they were still building the bike this morning and we were waiting for parts to arrive. First thing this morning it was damp and when the track dried up we had the bike finished and ended tenth in the first session and that was a nice start. This afternoon we concentrated on doing more miles on the bike and ended up in ninth, which is not ideal but I am happy with the lap times to be honest considering it is my first time out on the bike,” said Bridewell, speaking to bikesportnews.com at the circuit.
“For me this weekend is going to be difficult but I have nothing to lose. I know the Kawasaki’s are fast, strong and a competitive bike and I have noticed that today, and for tomorrow in the races we have a good position already. Hopefully after qualifying we will be even stronger. I am not worried it is what it is.
“I feel like my old self again and I enjoy racing the bike again and I want to build on it and push on. I feel motivated and I am smiling and feeling good.”
