Banks Racing/Express Racewear’s Brian Clark got his second win of the season in the Relentless British 125GP championship at Oulton Park ahead of pole position rider Rob Guiver of SP125/RG Racing.
It was Taylor Mackenzie of MMCG Motorpoint who shot from the second row to take the lead into the first corner ahead of Guiver and Matthew Hoyle of SP125racing/Mackrory Demolition. There was disappointment for Mackenzie who crashed on the final lap after running around the top five. He rejoining to finish 13th and but 2008 Champion Matthew Hoyle crashed out and walked away.
As usual with this series it was all change from the start, with Guiver at one point down in third before taking the lead. Guiver initially had pressure from Deane Brown of Colin Appleyard/Macadam Racing who had a great start from the third row.
It was Clark who had found his rhythm and put his head down to move into second to put pressure on Guiver. Constantly they changed positions on each lap, but it was Clark who held on to the finish line to take the 25 points.
Martin Glossop of KRP/Bradley Smith Racing crashed and rejoined to finish in 24th picking up no points making him unable to defend his third place overall in the championship. With Guiver picking up 20 points he was able to move up a position behind the 2009 champion James Lodge of KRP/Earnshaws Motorcycles who finished seventh in today’s race.
Brown took the final step of the podium and also the win in the Cup championship ahead of injuried rider Adam Blacklock of Repli-Cast UK who took second in the cup and fourth in the race. Danny Kent of Team Aztec GP rounded off the top five and third in the cup. This meant Brown secured second place in the championship and Blacklock took third.
