Motorpoint Yamaha's Graeme Gowland was forced to miss the second round of the British Superbike Championship following a crash at the start of yesterday's qualifying in which he broke his collarbone, but hopes to return at Donington in two weeks.
The Allendale rider highsided at the Brittens chicane and thinking of a previous hairline fracture, he tucked his hand for protection which may have increased the force of the landing onto his right shoulder.
Speaking to bikesportnews.com at Oulton, Gowland said: “I am totally gutted, we’ve all been working really hard and I wanted to be helping the guys out. I am going for laser treatment this week and I am hoping to be out at Brands.”
Talking about joining the BSB Paddock he said: “It’s good to be back in England, everybody speaks the right language which helps. Being with Rob Mac as well, it’s a great team.
“We are finding new things all the time, we have already come a long way from Brands. Even this weekend we have made so many changes to Chris’s [Walker] bike and a lot since since race one, you wouldn’t believe it and he had a really good race. Its nothing major, it’s just a little bit of everything.”
Only time will tell if Gowland can return to track at the third round of the championship at the Leicestershire circuit to build on his overall 16th championship position.
