Oulton BSB: ‘I will come back stronger’ – Lowes

Samsung Honda’s Alex Lowes now leads the MCE British Superbike championship after coming first in race one, and making it on to the podium for a second time after a third place finish in the final MCE British Superbike race of the day, at Oulton Park.

The Lincolnshire rider has been on form all weekend, topping all three qualifying sessions and starting on the front row in both races. Lowes had a runaway victory in the first race, but was out-paced by Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki’s Shane Byrne and Tyco Suzuki’s Josh Brookes. But Lowes is not too disappointed with third, but vows to return stronger for Knockhill.

“It was consistent again, and to get the first win was nice, and on the weekend I was fast in qualifying. But race two was not as good as I hoped, but to be disappointed with third, I am not going to be disappointed with that. Two podiums is really good and I am really enjoying the team, and everything is working pretty good,” said Lowes, speaking to bikesportnews.com.

“It is nice to label myself as someone who is being consistent which is good, and it is something I wasn’t able to say in the past. I am going to work a lot harder and get back in the gym and come back at Knockhill even stronger. I think it is a good start and now we have something to build on for the rest of the year.”
