Smiths Triumph’s Billy McConnell snatched Motorpoint British Supersport victory after championship challengers Jack Kennedy and Glen Richards crashed out on the last lap at the last corner.

Richards took the holeshot from pole position with Kennedy following but the Dubliner quickly took the lead from Richards on lap two. Behind Christian Iddon was starting to move forward as he muscled past Ben Wilson and Luke Mossey to third.

Iddon then moved past Richards on the run into the Shell Hairpin and it allowed Kennedy to pull away. He posted consecutive fastest laps of the race and was half a second ahead before a mistake from the Mar-Train Yamaha rider pulled the trio back together.

On lap four McConnell first went past team-mate Mossey and then Ben Wilson to take fourth and was able to pull out a gap of two seconds on the battling duo behind him.

At the front Richards took second back from Iddon in an identical move at Sthe hell Hairpin, then a lap later Iddon pushing to get back in front of Richards, tucked the front on the entry Brittens crashing out of third.

The battle was left to Richards and Kennedy and the Adelaide man made his move first as he went under the inside of Kennedy at Shell Hairpin. As they went into the last lap Kennedy first had a look into Shell but Richards closed the gap leaving it to the last corner of Lodge.

Kennedy moved level with Richards as the pair tried to nudge each other out of the way. Richards rolled around the outside of the Championship leader in an attempt to close the door but the pair touched and crashed out handing the victory to McConnell. Kennedy maintains his 18.5 point gap over Richards but McConnell has closed it to 28.5.

Ben Wilson got the better of Luke Mossey in the battle for second and Pauli Pekkanen came through in fourth position. Appleyard Macadam’s Kev Coghlan took his best finish of the year in fifth in front of Cup winner Glenn Irwin.

Nikki Coates bettered team-mate Deane Brown for eighth with Sam Hornsey and Dan Cooper rounding out the top ten.
