Gearlink Kawasaki's Alastair Seeley snatched the Motorpoint British Supersport victory and along with it the championship lead, after having to settle for second yesterday across two astonishing races. The Northern Irishman said it was important to stop Easton's winning streak but there's still a long way to go in the championship race.
"Yesterday is what it is, we got second. It would have been nice to get two wins. To come away with a new lap record is a bonus though. We knew from the race yesterday where Stuart was stronger and where we were stronger. I just made a mistake coming out of Druids on the last lap, which didn't allow me the drive to get alongside him. Stuart seemed to defend the line more so yesterday than today, he was maybe thinking I was going to shoot to the outside again on that last lap. It allowed me to go down two gears, squeeze as hard as I could on the lever and bring it home for the win. It's quite important as it ends Stuart's winning streak, when a rider gets in that sort of mentality it's hard to stop them," said Seeley, speaking to bikesportnews.com after today's race.
"When I saw that gap ahead of me I knew it was going to be hard work to pull him back, I thought I'd used too much of my tyre to gain that. I got down to a similar pace to yesterday and I could see when I was on the back there were places where I was stronger but it was going to come down to the last lap again. I tried to defend two or three laps from the end but on the last lap Stuart had the lead, I had three options of where to pass and luckily the last one stuck. It's important to be on the podium week in week out. Consistency wins championships.
"I've won this championship before and I know one DNF can really hurt you. It's looking like me and Stuart for the title at the moment but it's such a tight class, there's a lot more racing to go this season"
