Tyco BMW's Christian Iddon is already in Showdown contention, after making it onto the podium three times so far this season, but the rider is looking to constantly progress and felt at the last round at Brands Hatch Indy they were able to improve corner entry to help him 'be able to race and pass people'.

The Stockport native used the MCE British Superbike official test at Oulton Park to try out some new bits that included some internal parts for the rear shock. He also used the sessions to try different linkages with the rear too.

Iddon went out in every session at his local circuit, and in the championship he wants to keep getting on to the podiums, and his aim is to get near the front at every race weekend. But he knows this will be a challenge as the 2017 grid is super competitive this year.

"First thing is to get a base setup from here. Think we have got a few new parts that will go even further. The first session it was the front that was causing a few issues we just need to soften her off a bit that is all," said Iddon, speaking to bikesportnews.com.

"There is quite a lot to get through really because when we do things like different chassis parts we have to work around to get a setting for them, so it could be that we bolt stuff in and it works or could be that we are there for quite a while. 

"We have some internal parts for the shock which should make a difference for corner entry, because we made a big step at Brands for corner entry and it helped me to be able to race and pass people. Then we have got some different linkages to try with the rear end so that is more of an on throttle thing.

"We started last year off well, so I am going to try and keep plugging away. The thing is with BSB there is that much depth of field you don't know who you are going to be racing with.

"If you can start the weekend  near the front, then that is the way forward. Hopefully when we get there we will be in the same situation, but in all honesty you don't know as the level of competition is ridiculous. I generally believe if you put the top 20 of us in World Superbike we would probably fill up fourth to 24th place."
