Oulton BSB: ‘Will try and keep the win away from Shakey’ - Ellison

Milwaukee Yamaha’s James Ellison is after more race wins at Oulton Park tomorrow, after holding off Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki’s Shane Byrne to take the spoils in the first of the MCE British Superbike triple header. Ellison came across the finishing line in first place, his second win of the year, and now the Cumbrian wants to stop Byrne from taking home is historic 50th BSB race win tomorrow.

Ellison praised his team for their hard work over the weekend, and hopes his good run of form continues. The garage will only make a few ‘small’ changes to the bike, as the Kendal lad is happy with his race pace this afternoon.

“I just held off Shakey by running consistent with the lap times and I have tried to do 36 flat, and I managed a 35.9 on the second to last lap. I tried to keep it consistent and the team were good with the board giving me the signals and it worked right till the end,” said Ellison, speaking to bikesportnews.com from the circuit.

“We will try and keep the 50th win away from Shakey as long as we can, and try and mess with his head a bit because he is riding so well at the minute and I think we need to keep him off that top step for a bit and try and keep him behind us for a bit.

“We are going to make a couple of small changes with the bike, but nothing big because we put some good times in, but we will do some small changes to help out towards the end of the race.”
