QUALIFYING SYSTEM GETS THE THUMBS UP

The new three session knockout qualifying system debuted at Cadwell Park over the Bank Holiday weekend and seems to have gone done a storm with those on track…..
Kenny Gilbertson – Astro racing Kawasaki #32
“I think it’s going to be a good thing, it livens it all up.  Unfortunately on the third run on the trial run of it so to speak my crank went on my engine so we didn’t get a chance to get out there to get the top twenty.”
“If they were running it at Knockhill we would have been in the top 20 shootout, which would have been quite an achievement for a superstock bike.  It can’t be a bad thing and I am sure the leaders in the championship are going to like it as there will be only ten of them out there and they won’t get held up in traffic.”
Tom Sykes – Rizla Suzuki #66
“It worked out good, I really enjoyed it was something different, it would be frustrating if it went wrong in the first session.  I thought there would be more time in between sessions, but basically you were straight out again.  It is good for spectators and I am really happy with the out come and I enjoyed it.”
Gary Mason – Quay Garage #101
“I love it, I had all the pressure with going from 10th to 11th and I just missed out.  I enjoyed it because it suits me.  I like going out and can do a couple of fast laps, that suits me.  Others seem to go out there and improve through the session that’s not the way I work.  You need to use your head and if you can get to the last go then great.”
Leon Morris – Brookspeed # 10
“It’s a shame for people further back, potentially we are losing 40 minutes of track time which would be more valuable to us.  However if that’s the rule, it gives people an incentive to go faster.  It’s a mad race to get out of the gate, but it is a reall incentive to get into the top session”
David Johnson – Team Maxxis #68
“It’s ok, definitely for crowd, nailbiting for guys gettinginto the top twenty.  It’s hard on your body, you’ve really got to push so it’s hard work and if you don’t make it into the other sessions you get to watch.”
Michael Howarth – Tena for Men #27
“I think it’s brilliant and a really good idea, I’m all for it.  It’s only the first time, but it’s worked out really well, it brought me on and it’s more exciting, really good.  Then the rest of the session I can watch and pick up points and learn even more from the Superbike lads.”
Shannon Etheridge – M.A.R Adept # 111
“It’s quite exciting, it makes people wiser and faster for the whole session.  You can’t mess around, we didn’t tackle it right this time.  I went out on race tyre then did session where we should have gone straight to a soft.  Generally great and more exciting for the fans, normally you can much around too much.”

Tom Tunstall – Hardinge – Ice Valley Motorsport #21
“I think it’s a good idea, good for a spectators.  The track time we lose could be usefull, but the first session for us was good”
