What does the future hold for the ROKiT Haslam Racing Team in the 2025 British Superbike season?
With Leon Haslam leaving his ROKiT Haslam Racing Team to join Moto Rapido in 2025, many questions have been asked about the future of Haslam's own British Superbike Team.
In an exclusive interview with BSN, we asked Haslam what his plans are for his old team. In the end, it was something that Haslam was unsure about and the ROKiT Haslam Racing Team's fate is still undecided.
However, he did confirm that his ROKiT Rookies will not change and will continue to run into the future.
“ROKiT Haslam Racing, as a joint venture between myself and ROKiT will still exist," Haslam stated. "I run the ROKiT Rookies, which is 12 riders across the official Supersport team and eight Superteens. That is all staying the same, we are continuing with the progression and the hospitality. So, that platform will stay."
Haslam then commented on his British Superbike Team, which he rode for in 2023 and 2024.
He said: "ROKiT Haslam Racing might have a presence in the paddock, we are still undecided. It won’t be me riding the bike, but as a team with me as a part owner with ROKiT it might continue.”
'It has been difficult running everything and starting from scratch.'
After confirming the future of the ROKiT Rookies and discussing the ROKiT Haslam Racing British Superbike Team, Haslam went on to explain why he set up the team and why he decided to leave it behind.
"I left the World Championship in 2021 after being teammates with [Alvaro] Bautista," Haslam explained. "We had two hard years on the Honda in the World Championship and we had beaten Alvaro in more than 50% of the races. Then I found myself on a Lee Hardy Kawasaki in 2022. Which for me was one of the hardest years of my whole career.
"At the end of the 2022 season, I was contemplating not continuing. So, when the opportunity arose to run my own thing with BMW, and when we got the sponsorship with ROKiT, I would say it rejuvenated my passion to try and do it myself.
"I still love racing, but the politics and producing something that I could not win on was difficult. It has also been difficult running everything and starting from scratch. Even though we were the top BMW in our first year and were close to a Championship, I never thought I produced a package that we could challenge for a title with."
