Ryan Vickers consolidated his long awaited maiden podium at Donington Park by once again stepping on the rostrum during the latest British Superbike Championship [BSB] round at Knockhill.
Now in his fifth season of BSB competition, Vickers finally made it into the top three at Donington Park with a run to a new best of second place on the LAMI OMG Racing Yamaha R1.
A landmark result for the Norfolk rider, he was on form again next time out in Scotland to demonstrate top five pace throughout the weekend, peaking with a third place finish ahead of team-mate Kyle Ryde in race three.
“It has been a really good weekend, only one session we’ve been outside the top five,” he said in the post-race press conference. “We made one mistake in the first race which could have been costly but we came back to bag a seventh. I knew I had the pace, as soon as I was on my own I set a really strong pace.
“In that last race, we had great pace again and I was in a great position. Others were struggling, Kyle was struggling, so I was playing it calm and it came to me at the end.
“Really happy, nice to do it like that, Kyle has been riding amazingly, we’re working together well in the team and the bikes are working great.”

The results are a vindication for Vickers, who had garnered a fast, but fragile reputation since making the leap from SSTK 600 to BSB in 2019.
With a pre-season injury hampering his latest big opportunity with defending champions OMG Racing, Vickers is pleased to be establishing himself now among the front-runners on a regular basis.
“Yes I feel comfortable on it, it’s a great bike and it’s not just the bike, it’s the team, everyone around me has filled me with confidence. They know what I need and they give me just that, so we are working in the right way.
“I am not worried about points or the championship, I’m just going to focus on me, and I think everyone else is starting to see that. Round on round I think we will keep on building.”
