After securing pole position at Thruxton Kyle Ryde has stated that he is aiming for his first podium at Thruxton this weekend.
Kyle Ryde continued Yamaha's domination at Thruxton this weekend as he went on to take pole position. Earlier in the weekend Ryan Vickers and Danny Kent also topped sessions. However, they could not match Ryde's pace in Qualifying.
Straight after putting himself on pole for Race One Ryde spoke to Eurosport about how the session went:
"My first lap got a bit messy after Ryan (Vickers) passed me into the last corner," Ryde told Shane Byrne. "You know what it is like around here you do one lap and think you are shot.
"Luckily for this weekend, we have got a SC0 and I think it actually would have done for four or five laps. I am buzzing to get first place, a 1:14.5 I don't think I have ever gone that quick! It is a good start to the weekend and hopefully we can get our first podium at Thruxton."
Byrne asked Ryde whether he had a plan for the opening race as he would be starting from what Ryde described as the 'perfect place':
"It is hard to say," Ryde admitted. "We have all got a lap time that we know we can do over 18 laps, but if you stick someone in front of you who is going half a second quicker it is hard not to follow them. I am in the perfect place to maybe let a few people pass and save the tyre for the end, but we will see how it is.
"It is impossible to make a plan for around here the tyre temperature goes through the roof and the grip levels go down. As you have seen the man who has won a lot of races around here (Jason O'Halloran) is starting next to me, so if he comes passed I am following him."
