Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki rider Shane Byrne has stormed to pole position for the first of today's Silverstone 200 races, going six-tenths of a second faster than team-mate Stuart Easton.

The two-time British Superbike Champion set a 2'09.436 with his final circuit while Easton was pushed all the way by Sam Lowes on his World Supersport-spec PTR Honda, lapping in 2'10.119. Team-mate Jules Cluzel was fourth but a further four-tenths in arrears.

Christian Iddon bagged fifth on his British Superport Oxford TAG Triumph with Superstock man Jon Railton in sixth. Luke Jones (Superstock) was seventh, Richard Cooper (Supersport) eighth, Luke Quigley (Superbike) ninth and Florian Marino, on the Splitlath Aprilia BSB bike, rounded out the top ten.

As in British Superbikes, the grid for tomorrow's race will be taken from the fastest laps today. The winner of the event will be the one with the least points from the two races. The winner from each will be given one point and so on down the order.
