SILVERSTONE BSB: ELLISON WINS RACE TWO

Airwaves Yamaha's James Ellison has taken the second British Superbike race win at Silverstone this afternoon with a faultess riding display which increases his lead over third-place man Stuart Easton in points table.

Ellison took the lead from Hydrex Honda's Easton on lap seven and never looked back while team-mate and newly-crowned BSB Champion Leon Camier had to work his way back to second from tenth after he went grass-tracking on lap four.

Easton got away from the line first as usual with Brookes, Ellison, Camier and Hydrex Honda's Tommy Hill in close attendance. Camier went inside his team-mate at Priory but Ellison shoved it back past into the chicane.

Ellison made short work of getting past HM Plant Honda's Josh Brookes on lap two and Camier was past the Australian one lap later. A flying Camier then went up the inside of Ellison, barging him out of the way at Luffield In.

Going into Becketts on lap four, Camier tried a move on his team-mate again but went straight on to the grass, and re-joined on lap four in tenth place with more than seven seconds to make up.

Two laps later, Camier had got past four riders while Ellison was giving Easton a hard time for the lead. He took the top spot as Camier went past MSS Colchester Kawasaki's Simon Andrews for fifth, and then past Tommy Hill on lap eight.

It was then a straight fight for second as Ellison was more than two seconds clear. Camier took a while to get past good friend Brookes, diving underneath at Priory but running wide and holding the outside line into Luffield to make the pass.

He then set about catching and passing Easton for second and did so at Priory with three laps left. That left Brookes fighting for the final podium position and he stole it from Easton going into the last chicane.

Hill took fifth place with MSS Kawasaki's Julien Da Costa in sixth, team-mate Simon Andrews in seventh and Sylvain Guintoli in eighth. Tommy Bridewell made it a double Superbike Cup win after Gary Mason crashed out.
