Samsung Honda’s Alex Lowes will start tomorrow’s first MCE British Superbike race from pole, after demolishing the rest of the pack with an impressive 2’05.724 lap. But the Derby rider still feels some changes need to be made to his bike, but is happy with the outcome after qualifying today.
Lowes experienced some issues with his machine during the free practice session this morning, but after sorting out those problems he feels comfortable that he can challenge for the victory. His title rival, Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki’s Shane Byrne is nursing a hip injury, and is not completely 100 percent back to full fitness after a crash today, and Lowes hopes that he will be fit to challenge for the win tomorrow.
“I was a bit upset with the bike after this morning’s session as we had a couple of problems, but the bike is better now and it would be good if Shakey was one hundred percent fit. It is good to see PJ up there on the front row too, and fair play to him he is always in the top three now,” said Lowes at the circuit.
“But it is good to get pole, and everything is working well. We will make a couple of changes to the bike for the race tomorrow but the bike has been great all year, and if I don't win the championship it wont be down to the bike.”
