Snetterton BSB: Kennaugh clinches tight Superstock 1000 win

Homer Racing’s Hudson Kennaugh clinched a very tight Pirelli National Superstock 1000 victory at Snetterton this afternoon, after narrowly taking the win from SMT Racing’s Adam Jenkinson by nine hundredths of a second, with Buildbase BMW’s Lee Jackson coming across the finishing line in third.

Throughout the fourteen lap race the lead changed between Jenkinson and Kennaugh, but the real battle took place on the final lap. Jenkinson managed to catch up to the South African, to make a move at Coram, but Kennaugh made a move at Murrays and he made it stick to take the race win, his first for five years.

Rapido Sport Racing’s Tristan Palmer was in third for the majority of the race, but he was not able to hold off the charge of teenager Jackson. Palmer went wide at Montreal, and the BMW rider was able to take advantage of Palmer’s mistake, and he ended the race in fourth, followed by ILR’s Filip Backlund.

American rider WD40’s Tommy Aquino got his best result of the year so far, crossing the finishing line in eighth, with Ryan McGill’s Marshall Neill, and Formwise Racing’s Luke Quigley rounding off the top ten.

The race was a complete crash fest, and filled with technical retirements too, fourteen riders failed to make it to the end. Be Wiser Kawasaki rider Josh Day was the first to succumb to the 300 circuit, as he crashed at Nelson on lap three, prompting the safety car to come out for three laps. Idaq Motorsports Peter Ward was the final racer to crash, on the final lap.
