Former MCE British Superbike champion Ryuichi Kiyonari is almost 100 per cent fit for this weekend’s clash at Snetterton after re-injuring his collarbone in a crash at Oulton Park.
The Buildbase BMW man went home to Japan in the summer break to get it all sorted out and he is now back in the UK and is chomping at the bit to get out on the S1000RR.
“Shoulder is much better – after Oulton I have special treatment and now it is much, much better and I am almost 100 per cent so for me racing at Snetterton is not a problem though I did miss the test,” said Kiyonari, speaking to bikesportnews.com
“That should not be a big problem as in the first race at Oulton I had a good feeling with the bike and everything was good. Snetterton is a completely different track compared to Oulton but I will try very hard, push very hard – I want to win races again here.
“I will come out strong after the break – I have had a rest, not even the family around. I like to go home, sleeping and eating. Now I am happy to be back but I want to ride my bike with my team, so I think that it is good for this race.”
Kiyo missed the Snetterton test in May but believes his break at home has enabled him to relax, rest and come out fighting this weekend.
“I saw the lap times, very fast, all of the riders faster than last year. But I am more fresh and ready – it will still be difficult for me to finish top of the podium but I try hard, I try to win.”
