SNETTERTON BSB: LINFOOT AIMING FOR THE WIN

North West 200 Coco Cola Zero’s Dan Linfoot is still waiting for that win, but he is not disappointed with finishing on the podium three times so far this season, as the points are vital for the Fuchs-Silkolene British Supersport Championship which continues this weekend at the Norfolk circuit of Snetterton.
After racing in various European championships since 2006 Linfoot returns to the BSB paddock already proving his ability to run at the front in one of the most competitive championships in the UK.  Linfoot said: “It’s going really well, I didn’t know what to expect and I went to the first round at Brands Hatch with an open mind.”
“I have been on the podium every race that I have finished, I want the win, it feels like I have been going for the win for ages now, but I am pleased I have been on the podium each time.  My attitude has changed, it used to be a case of win it or bin it.  I am knocking on now and I do realise that every point counts.”
It was in November 2008 that Linfoot knew his plans for the 2009 season, finalising a deal for the following season this early on is very rare occurrence, but pleasing from a rider's point of view.
Linfoot knew he needed to be on a competitive bike whether it was at World or British level and with his familiarity with Yamaha, Rob Mac was an obvious man to approach.  Soon after discussions the deal was done.
Linfoot currently sits third in the championship standings, a mere 20 points behind first place Billy McConnell who going into this weekend is only two points ahead of Steve Plater.  “Billy and Plater have years of experience and I am a younger, up and coming rider.  To be battling with them is a great position to be in,” Linfoot proudly said to www.bikesportnews.com this morning.
Returning to a circuit he has not ridden on since 2005 on a 125cc Linfoot spent his first session re-learning the track, but still finished sixth, just over a second behind pole.
Linfoot said: “The track is different to how I remember it and it isn’t a track I could say I have done well on, but I am confident.  I will aim for the win, but if I think I am pushing it too hard I will be sensible and think of the points.  I am aiming for another podium.”
