Snetterton BSB: Linfoot ‘struggling’ with race pace

GBmoto’s Dan Linfoot is disappointed with his performance so far this weekend. The rider alongside team-mate Peter Hickman failed to progress into Q3 and will start the MCE British Superbike race from the fourth row of the grid tomorrow.

Linfoot could not match his lap times that he set in Q1 and had to settle for a 1’50.366 lap, two seconds slower than pole setter Samsung Honda’s Alex Lowes, and that time was enough to leave him out of Q3. Now the rider and his team will work on the issues that are preventing Linfoot from progressing with his times.

“I think as a whole I am a bit disappointed because I peaked a bit too soon really. We have been struggling in one or two areas in particular and I managed to get a lap behind a faster rider in Q1 to put a good time in, which masked the problem. So in Q2 I was more by myself and could not match what I did, so I am disappointed with fourteenth on the grid and my team-mate is fifteenth. So we definitely have some work to do, but we have improved,” said Linfoot, speaking to bikesportnews.com from the circuit.

The Wetherby lad had problems when exiting turns, leaving the rider very frustrated with his time out on the 300 circuit today.

“I have some throttle issues exiting the turns and my laps are disappointing, but we are making progress. But we are still in a place where we can’t fight with the guys that we should be. I like to be fighting with the guys in the top six. It has nothing to do with the heat, but I am finding it difficult punching off the turns and there are a lot of stop start corners here, and it is frustrating.

“I am nearly back to full fitness and I have no twinges and I feel fine on the bike and I am not in any pain. Looking back at Knockhill I was not quite as good a shape as I should have been, so it is not an excuse for underperforming anymore. There are no issues with the tyres, and as a team now we need to dig in and find our way out of the brick wall that we have hit.”
