Snetterton BSB: Old habits die hard for Tinmouth

Honda Racing’s Jenny Tinmouth is still trying to change her riding style to suit both the Snetterton 300 circuit and her CBR1000RR Fireblade, but she is disappointed with her lap times so far at the MCE British Superbike round.

The only woman in the championship didn’t set a lap quick enough for her to take part in qualifying, and now the Ellesmere Port racer is trying to break old habits.

She is still learning the bike and adopting a new riding position, but she is enjoying the process and hopes to progress this race weekend at the Norfolk track.

Her team are working hard, and Tinmouth will continue to ‘plug away’. But not only that, her aim is to set a time quick enough to be able to take part in qualifying, which is something that has eluded her so far this season.

“I am just trying to change my style a bit more to suit the bike and the circuit – it’s when of those stop start circuits and I am trying to change what I do as I am a rider who prefers the fast flowing stuff so it kind of highlights it here,” said Tinmouth, speaking to bikesportnews.com from the track.

“I am disappointed with the times I am doing but I am learning all the time, I got a few pointers and was able to follow a few riders. The more I practice what I am doing hopefully it will become second nature so I will keep plugging away.

“The way I used to ride my old bike, that was ok and it working up to a point but I know that if I want to go to faster then I need to go slower to learn to go faster for the long term, so it is trying to break old habits but I am enjoying doing it.”
